THEATRE TAUGHT IN HIGH SCHOOLS FULFILS FOUR BASIC PURPOSES

I. THEATRE AS SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY:
To give the student a break from academic activities, fulfilling the same needs as a sports activity.

II. THEATRE AS LIFE ENRICHMENT:
To produce aesthetically responsive citizens with lifelong interest in the arts.

III. THEATRE AS THERAPY:
To enhance students’ personal growth and development and self-discovery, developing self-confidence, teaching group work ethics, etc.
Giving the student a break from academic activities, fulfilling the same needs as a sports activity.

IV. THEATRE AS TRAINING:
To prepare for continued and future studies in the field of Theatre Arts

PINE TREE HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE FULFILLS ALL FOUR PURPOSES, BUT OUR MISSION STATEMENT IS FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON THE FOURTH GOAL

Pine Tree Theatre students become a family as they work together to produce quality shows for our community and for competition across Texas.  The skills our students embody prepares them for success in the workplace as well as in the next level of theatre education and service.
