Welcome to Pine Tree Art
Pine Tree ISD offers art in grades 1-12. We offer a strong foundation program that culminates in high school with Pre AP and AP Art, AP Art History, Digital Graphics and Photography. We prepare students interested in a career in fine art by encouraging competition on the regional, area and state level at VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event).
Our high school Seniors also compete in Scholarship opportunities and take part in local students shows and contests. These students build a strong portfolio in art in traditional mediums, graphics, digital media and photography.
Our students historically have great success in all these areas including this past year’s VASE State competition where the following students received Gold Medals for Excellence.

Brandy Gonzalez, 10th grade, at Pine Tree High School received 1st place for her digital photo titled "Krystal Refractions in the 2019 Congressional Art Competition. Brandy's photo will represent the 1st District of Texas with Congressman Louie Gohmert at the US Capitol in Washington D.C. for a year long art exhibition. The exhibit opening is in June, and Brandy won 3 plane tickets complements of the Congressional Art Competition/Southwest Airlines/Louie Gohmert to attend the art opening with her parents. Judges were faculty members at East Texas Baptist University. High school students from all over East Texas competed.
We are so proud of Brandy's hard work, creativity, originality, and that Pine Tree High will be represented at our Nation's Capitol. To create this image, Brandy designed a stencil, cut it out with an x-acto knife, projected the shadow's onto her model's face, took a photo, then manipulated that photo with various software. Her model's name is Krystal, and the colors are vivid like a crystal refraction- hence the title.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

Pine Tree High School Lead Teacher for Fine Arts I teach Art 3 / 4, Pre AP 2 / 3 / 4, AP Art 4, 3D Art, and our Drone 101 courses. A little bit about me I started my college career at Kilgore College and received a certificate in Photography and my Associates of Arts from there before moving on to Stephen F. Austin State University. I finished up with my Bachelors of Fine Art and Education in 2013. My first year of teaching was in Marshall ISD. The next year I started with Pine Tree ISD and now I have been in the district for seven years. My Art background is very broad. I enjoy painting, drawing, sculpting, and just creating in general. I have been flying drones commercially for just over a year as a certified Remote Pilot. I am using my experience with the Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification process to help our students to have the same opportunity to become certified Remote pilots and use their certification to start their own business as a commercial drone pilot. |

Spring Parnell
Pine Tree High School Art I Teacher My name is Spring Parnell. I am from Alaska and have a Bachelor's in Art from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in Fairbanks, Alaska and an Associates of Fine Art from the Institute of American Indian Art, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My biggest influence to pursue art was from my Middle and High School Art Teacher. He saw I was very motivated to create art and fostered a very open and friendly atmosphere which encouraged me to produce many pieces of art. In my class, I encourage students to pursue the kind of art that makes them happy. Because when they enjoy what they're doing, it motivates them to do more and more. When they do that, they become better artists and that is how to become successful. |
